Cardinals nesting

It was so exciting to see the cardinals nesting in the pine tree one more time before the snow comes! I watched both parents carry juicy tidbits to the nest but it is too high for me to peer into!!

Cardinal and friend

The male cardinal has been feeding this female brown-headed cowbird. The cowbird is the only parasitic bird (laying their eggs in other birds nest) in Iowa so perhaps the cowbird was raised by the cardinals.
